Mike Blackwell is the owner and inspector of Buyers Edge Home Inspections. When Mike began to notice a clear need for more home inspectors in the state of New Jersey, he decided to answer the call—following an instinctive desire to see others lead less stressful lives by owning a great home of their own.
Every homeowner was once a first-time home-buyer, and when you don’t have firsthand familiarity with the ins and outs of real estate, it can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why Mike takes special care to help his more inexperienced clients avoid the mistakes that often occur due to a strictly emotional buying decision—and he’s sure to disclose everything he discovers about a home so that all of his clients, regardless of their home-buying experience, can stay protected.

In addition to being a professional home inspector, Mike has a decade’s worth of experience as a firefighter—and in that line of work, he has seen the flaws of home construction exposed time and time again.
Your family’s safety comes first, and Mike strives to reveal the property’s condition in its entirety so that you are fully aware of any potential hazards that need remediated. Mike also has extensive hands-on construction experience, and he understands that although the discovery of defective components can be stressful for home-buyers, there is almost always a practical way of fixing the problem.
Your peace of mind is important, and that’s a big part of what a home inspection provides—giving you the confidence to negotiate any necessary repairs or improvements to the home so that you can rest easier once an investment is final.
Time Off
When he’s not inspecting homes, Mike loves to spend time with his wonderful wife, newborn daughter, and their Australian Shepard. Mike enjoys traveling with his wife, and together, they’ve visited national parks all around the United States. Mike also spends part of his free time outside of his work as a home inspector and firefighter coordinating fundraisers to benefit the Burn Center at St. Barnabas and the Children’s Burn Camp.
